ERP Programme Manager / ERP Portfolio Manager with proven experience of managing and overseeing the delivery of multiple IT, Finance and ERP related workstreams for other FMCG, retail, supply-chain or logistics clients is required to spearhead a large greenfield 4 year programme for our Global FMCG client.
The successful ERP Programme Manager / ERP Portfolio Manager will be responsible for setting up, overseeing and managing a new programme to deliver multiple workstreams prior to the arrival of a European ERP integration/transformation programme that becomes part of this roadmap.
This programme is now in the spotlight from the senior leadership team who are seeking to make signification changes for a smooth transition. It needs leadership, organisation, and a protection wrapper from a dedicated ‘hands-on’ Programme Manager or Portfolio Manager who has simply ‘been there’ / ‘done that’, who will take ownership and accountability. Someone with gravitas, credibility and with a strong empathetic approach to business change who is used to engaging with C Level Executives and their number 2’s to paint the pictures, drive workshops, deliver presentations, build business cases and who knows how to deliver successful programmes of this scale.
The ERP Programme Manager / ERP Portfolio Manager will report into a strategic PMO Planning and IT Governance board with ultimate responsibility for engaging with multiple business and IT teams, Finance and Supply-Chain / Warehousing Operations. They will be supported by a Senior Technical SME who has been through many years of IT & ERP change for this client who will help to define and shape the workstreams from a technical perspective. Whilst processes and controls are already in place, the Programme or Portfolio Manager will be empowered to enhance processes for gaining efficiency and pace when planning, matrix managing, hiring and prioritising both technical and project resources to deliver.
Workstreams for delivery include: Changing Nationwide Product Codes; Completing an ERP implementation for an acquisition; Line Level Invoice Matching; Reviewing and fixing E2E Business Processes, particularly within finance areas; Testing UK EDI’s against European EDI’s for alignment; API mapping into a new centralised function; Implementing centralised Printing Solutions; Migrations to European Trade and Retail websites; Implementing a Centralising Stock Management & Cataloguing solution; Systems Consolidations and Data Migrations; Gaining an understanding of what the new European ERP solution looks like and how this might integrate / translate with existing systems and processes, to deliver change prior to the European wide ERP implementation programme.
ERP Programme Managers / ERP Portfolio Managers applying must have proven experience of delivering similar ERP Programmes or Portfolios of this scale for other logistics, FMCG, retail or distribution type environments to qualify. Someone who understands the processes and systems that would support an SLA of under 60 minutes from when a customer places an order through to physically receiving the product with respect of warehousing, order fulfilment, IT systems, ERP, application interfaces and business functionality. Someone who has gone through the pain of systems integration and change from an IT and ERP perspective who will know how to approach setting out this programme from scratch and delivering successfully. Someone with a strong understanding of the E2E processes, particularly within finance and accounting and with proven experience of influencing these business areas, particularly in the context of rollout and cutover planning.
ERP Programme Managers / ERP Portfolio Managers must be used to creating relevant documentation themselves (project plans, business cases, gap analysis following standard governance, controls and Prince 2, Agile or similar etc.), and have skills in CAPEX and OPEX budget management, matrix management, resource management (to include hiring and retention), and be adept at delivering programmes remotely using cross-functional teams requiring plate spinning and the ability to deliver at pace.
ERP Programme Managers / ERP Portfolio Managers must be used to working with minimal supervision, have a calm level head and a sleeves rolled-up approach without getting disheartened if changing priorities affect projects within this long-term programme, such as a new acquisition, or delays with the European ERP programme and projects within the programme that might need juggling in position of highest priority.
ERP Programme Managers / ERP Portfolio Managers should consider themselves a confident self-starter / go-getter with proven senior business and IT stakeholder engagement skills. A proactive, collaborative, and decisive individual able to stand up, push back, plan and prioritise multiple items, and to not be afraid to ask for help if needed (particularly to avoid sitting on situations that need unblocking).
