Data Analyst with proven experience in analysing and implementing data governance and data standards is required for an initial short-term assignment for a pilot web development project working with our energy and utilities client.
Currently the same type of data is being collected in a variety of formats by multiple internal departments and external companies. This makes it very difficult for the analytics department to provide fast and accurate reporting, without having to conduct extensive manual data cleansing and separation routines to produce the desired reports and statistics.
The Data Analyst will be required to identify the most important data sets, data types and recommend formats for the data fields that need to be standardised across all departments eg (post code field, gas meter or electricity reading format, address format, name format etc.)
The successful Data Analyst will be a self-starting and proactive individual who can be pointed in the right direction and manage their own workload to identify how data is being captured. This will naturally involve conducting numerous workshops with more than 20 heads of departments and external companies to identify and document the as-is data capture format and to then research and define the best standards to adopt for the new to-be data capture format. The aim will be to produce a defined set of standards and format that will assist both the analytics team and in the development of a new web solution. The data requirements analysis will include asking questions like “where do you get your data from”, “how do you record the data” and “what solution/product do you record your data in?” etc.
There is an additional remit for developing policies and recommending new ways of working with respect of data governance and standardisation to be rolled out to the wider organisation.
Data Analysts applying must have proven experience of having analysed and implemented or made recommendations on other data governance, data standards or policy implementation projects to qualify.
